The segregation (at least at lunch) was real. And I'm pretty sure it was self iimposed. I went to high-school in Brooklyn from 2001-2005. Majority of people really did end up sticking to "their kind" (ethnically, culturally or otherwise) with very few "cross overs". And we had people from all over the world in our school.
